My son is non verbal and will be 13 this year. His school district did not have the expertise to deliver the intense instruction and rigid routine that he needed to progress. He lives in an out of state residential facility and has phenomenally progressed over the past year and a half.
His new speech therapist has been fighting for him to get an iPad, but insurance has refused the claim. His school district has purchased one but it remains their property. We are struggling financially while just trying to visit him every weekend. Money is scarce for families but services are scarcer.
I would like to meet you and ask for your help in trying to bring our state up to date in autism services. Yes, I would like to see my son living closer and eventually return home. I would like to see improvement for all of the other families that are experiencing the “black hole” of services in Delaware.
